State Finalist

The 1990-91 West Mesquite Wranglers baseball team was the first Mesquite ISD team to advance to the state tournament. The 4A district champions posted a 25-9 overall record while only losing one district game. Led by legendary Coach Tommy Sigler, MISD’s all-time leader in victories, the team refused to fall short of the state championship. After defeating the No. 2 team in the state in the quarterfinals, the team rallied for a come-from-behind victory in the state semi-finals, beating No. 1 ranked West Orange Stark. The Wranglers capped off a remarkable season with a state runner-up finish, falling by just one run to Robstown High School in the state championship game.
