Heather Fortenberry Beaty

Poteet High School Softball, Class of 2006

The list of accomplishments is long for Heather Fortenberry Beaty. The 2003 District Newcomer of the Year helped lead Poteet High School to its first state finals appearance as a freshman. She was named District Pitcher of the Year as both a sophomore and junior before capping her high school career as the District MVP in 2006. Beaty continued her success at the University of Texas at Arlington, where she was named Southland Conference Freshman of the Year after posting a team-best 2.33 ERA. She went on to lead the Mavericks in several pitching categories throughout her collegiate career. After graduation, Fortenberry-Beaty returned home to Mesquite ISD, serving as both a softball coach and special education teacher at North Mesquite and Poteet High Schools.
