BEN ROBERTSON

North Mesquite High School Cross Country & Girls Track

Ben Robertson made his mark on Mesquite and left a legacy that will be remembered within the community for years to come. Serving at North Mesquite High School from 1969 to 1996, Robertson was widely respected for his ability to inspire athletes to reach their full potential both on and off the course. Under his leadership, the Stallions cross-country program achieved statewide success, earning UIL state runner-up finishes in 1988 and 1989 and producing an individual UIL state champion in 1990. His dedication to the sport and his athletes helped establish a tradition of excellence that continues to influence Mesquite ISD athletics today.

Following his retirement from coaching, Robertson remained deeply involved in the district as Memorial Stadium manager and as Mesquite ISD’s cross-country and track coordinator, roles he held until his passing in 2017. His legacy lives on through two events that bear his name, the Ben Robertson Cross-Country Stallion Stampede and the Ben Robertson Relays, ensuring that his contributions to Mesquite ISD and the sport of running will be remembered for years to come.
