Charles Qualls

North Mesquite High School Football/ Former MISD Athletic Director

Charlie Qualls enjoyed an impressive career marked by firsts. As Mesquite ISD’s first athletic director and the first head football coach at North Mesquite High School, he helped establish traditions of excellence that continue today. During his tenure at North Mesquite, Qualls compiled an impressive 106-52 record and guided the growth of one of the district’s premier athletic programs. His coaching career also included successful stints as head football coach at Mesquite High School and McKinney High School. Respected throughout the state for his contributions to education and athletics, Qualls served as president of the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) in 1979 and was later inducted into both the THSCA Hall of Honor and the Texas High School Athletic Directors Hall of Honor.
