Kelsi Baker was a standout three-sport athlete at John Horn High School, excelling in basketball, softball and track and field. On the basketball court, she earned District MVP honors three times and was recognized as a McDonald’s All-American nominee for her exceptional talent and leadership. In addition to her accomplishments in basketball, Baker competed at the UIL State Track and Field Meet in the shot put which earned her the prestigious Principal’s Award, reflecting her commitment to excellence both in athletics and academics. Baker continued her athletic career at the collegiate level, playing basketball at Texas Tech University, where she further developed the skills and work ethic that defined her success.
Today, Baker continues to impact the next generation of student-athletes as the Assistant Campus Coordinator and Head Girls Basketball Coach at Mesquite High School. In this role, she brings the same dedication, leadership, and passion that distinguished her as a student-athlete, serving as a mentor and role model for young people throughout Mesquite ISD. Her journey from Jaguar standout to educational and athletic leader is a testament to the lasting influence of Mesquite ISD athletics and the opportunities it provides for students to excel both on and off the court.
